Description: This the MLX90614 IR Thermometer breakout from rhydoLABZ, an InfraRed thermometer for non contact temperature measurements. We have designed this product to be compatible in its design with Sparkfun's Evaluation breakout. Though the design is inspired out of Sparkfun version clearly it is not a clone, we redesigned the circuit with level conversion buffer gates for added reliability. The user can conveniently interface our breakout either with 3V3 or 5V logic levels, with the help of the PCB jumper provided at the bottom side. The sensor is interfaced with an ATmega328 onboard, running at 3.3V with STK500 (Arduino) 8MHz bootloader loaded. The ATmega328 can be programmed over the FTDI basic interface and the Arduino environment.



The MLX90614 sensor is a high precision, small size, single zone IR thermometer with an optional SMBus (two-wire) or PWM interface. Both the IR sensitive thermopile detector chip and the signal conditioning ASSP are integrated in the same TO-39 can. Thanks to its low noise amplifier, 17-bit ADC and powerful DSP unit for its a high accuracy and  reliable resolution. The ATMega328 onboard comes with demo code that gives a temperature readout in degree Celsius at 9600bps (eg: T036.00C, for 36oC). You can use a 3.3V FTDI Basic to connect to the board.


Note: In comparison with the Sparkfun version, rhydoLABZ MLX90614 IR breakout has an updated firmware, in built level conversion circuitry and outputs temperature readings in oC .
