Description: This PICkit 2 compatible programmer, for PIC series of Microcontrollers from Microchip, is an excellent choice for offline batch programming. It offers onboard ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) sockets for 20/28/40 pin PIC microcontrollers. This programmer is 100% compatible with Microchip’s MPLAB IDE, and the PICkit 2 interface, will be detected automatically as Pickit2 programmer by MPLAB. This PIC Programmer uses a USB port for power and connection to the computer, as opposed to the traditional serial port, eliminating the need for a separate power supply. It will automatically power the circuit, if the target Controller is not powered. The programmer can be used to program 3.3V and 5V microcontrollers.

The PIC Programmer offers In-circuit programming through a standard 6-pin ICSP connector as well. Two separate ZIF sockets of 40pin and 20 pin are provided onboard for easy programming of any PIC (DIP package) of up to 40-pins right on the programmer. Higher pin count PICs can also be programmed, but through the ICSP connection header. The programmer features on board EEPROM for off-line batch programming, which enables just a button press to load the same program (stored in the EEPROM) continuously to many controllers.  Automatic selection of voltage level is yet another unique features of this programmer. Jumper J1 is used to switch the USB power to target controller on ZIF Socket or the controller connected via RJ11 Connector; strap to pin marked 'T' to power the controller on ZIF socket, strap to the pin marked 'B' otherwise. Current state of the programmer can be clearly understood from on board LED indicators.
