Description: Have you ever wanted to control the flow of a liquid using your computer or microcontroller, but didn't know how? Well, here's how: The 12V solenoid controlled fluid valve. Simply connect a fluid source to the 3/4" threaded inlet and it will interrupt the flow until 12V is applied to the fast-on connectors on the solenoid.

Note: This is not a gravity-feed solenoid. This means that you will need enough water pressure to fully open the valve. Check the datasheet for exact details. It operates at a minimum of around 3 PSI, allowing around 3 L/min of flow. Although the datasheet shows the valve working at 220 VAC, it's actually 12 VDC.  A garden hose or other pressurized system should work just fine.

    • Q
    • How do I connect it to arduino?

asked by Arnav Raj on June 29, 2016
    • A
    • You can connect it using a single transistor. The current draw of the solenoid will be higher than that a standard transistor can handle, so we recommend using a TIP120 Darlington Transistor.

    • Q
    • How do I connect three of them to arduino?

asked by Arnav Raj on July 03, 2016
    • A
    • We can't connect a Solenoid Valve(12V) directly to a Arduino board.Because it consumes around 300mA current. An Arduino pin can source only 5V,40mA(max).

You can either use a transistor that has a current rating more than 300mA(eg:TIP120 NPN transistor) or you can use a ULN2003A IC.The ULN2003A is an array of seven NPN Darlington transistors capable of 500mA.

You can also use a Motor Driver or Relay.

    • Q
    • Is it normally closed valve or normally open valve?

asked by Arnav Rajesh on July 05, 2016
    • A
    • 12V Solenoid Valve is normally closed
