Which side is TTL and which side is rs232?
The DB9 type connector is for RS232 & the white 6 pin RMC connector on the other end is for TTL connection.
Can it convert to +-12 V RS232 signals?
Yes, as per specification,
Maximum RS232 voltage range of the IC can receive is
–25V to +25V
If the supply voltage given is 3.3v (TTL level) then the RS 232 level is 5v or 12v,
The unit is powered through one of the connector pins and can run at any voltage i.e if the board is powered at 5V, the unit will convert RS232 to 5V TTL or if powered by 3V3 and the board will convert RS232 to 3V3 CMOS TTL.
At supply voltages ranges from 3V3 to 5V , the RS232 voltage level ( "+" and "-" )will be almost constant and well with in the RS232 specification requirement.
There are 6 TTL pins but the description states "The TTL side is a 4-pin connector". Does this only shift Rx, Tx, VCC and GND signals?
I need to shift PC RS232 to 3.3V TTL for 3 signals - (Rx, Tx, DCD). Would this work?
The TTL side have 6-pin RMC connector and the RS-232 side is a 9-pin DB9 female connector. At TTL side 6 pins are CTS, VCC, TXD, RXD,GND,RTS. The CTS and RTS pins are also brought out for Hardware Flow control if needed by application
