How to read a reply from modem in arduino mode? eg. If I send "AT" command to the modem i want to read response "OK" from modem.
When the shield is in Arduino mode, the GSM module is in connection with the hardware UART of Arduino. While programming your arduino using the arduino IDE, serial.println() function can be used to send commands to the GSM/GPRS module, and serial.read() for receiving the acknowledgement.
For eg, consider the code excerpt which sends out 'AT' and reads the acknowledgement :
Serial.println("AT"); //Sends AT to the Modem
while(Serial.available()!=0) //Waits for the acknowledgement
ack = Serial.read();
//So when the modem responds with an OK, okflag will be set.
It isn't always necessary to read and verify the acknowledgement. You can send the commands continuously with a small delay() in between. This approach is easy and it is far more than enough for any of your hobby projects.
I need the pinout description of the module
Only a few number of pins of the shield comes in direct connection with the GSM and GPS modules populated onboard. The rest of them have no connection and comes in direct contact with the arduino pins.

can this tracking shied be connected with raspberry pi 3 b?
As a matter of fact, you can.
Basically the GSM/GPRS/GPS(SIM900)shield is design for Arduino R3 layout boards enabling developers to plug it directly to arduino R3 layout boards.
Taking a raspberry pi into account, this won't serve the purpose of a shield as it cannot be plugged on to a RPi board. But still you can interface it using a raspberry pi. Using jumper wires to connect the shield to a raspberry pi.
